To the right, to the left and even behind you – at a glance without having to turn around. Sometimes, more increased safety really does go hand in hand with convenience: Surround View.

Bluetooth Office

BMW ConnectedDrive integrates many of the features offered by your smartphone into your car: perfectly simply – via the Bluetooth interface of your BMW. That can now be used effectively in your BMW. The Bluetooth interface in your car provides access to the most important office functions – anytime and anywhere: you can conveniently view your appointments, your calendar entries, information and news on your vehicle display – and all without even having to pick up your phone.
Just concentrate on driving: the text-to-speech function can read out your emails, notes, calendar entries or text messages over the speakers of your audio system. You can display your appointments for the last 20 and next 50 days, and any phone numbers noted in your entries can be quickly and easily selected to call your contact. And, of course, pictures of callers are displayed, too.

You can conveniently use certain Apple iPhone apps in every BMW with the optional equipment item “Apps”. Simply connect your iPhone to your BMW and browse through the apps with the iDrive Controller.

With the free app “BMW Connected“ your Control Display can show several apps, while the car’s audio system can read them out using the text-to-speech function.

The best of both worlds: conveniently control the iPod functions of your iPhone using the iDrive Controller of your BMW 3 Series Touring while the familiar Apple interface appears on the vehicle’s main display. Your iPhone keeps you permanently up to date – and of course this applies when you use it in your BMW as well. In combination with the Apps special accessory and a snap-in adapter, PlugIn provides you with direct access to all menu items without any major changes. What’s more, with the video playback function, you can also display iPhone video on the Control Display of the new BMW 3 Series Touring.

Do you listen to music with the world’s bestselling player, the iPod? Then all you need is the original iPod USB cable to connect your music to your car’s audio system. BMW Online makes you more mobile than ever before, keeping you up to date and in touch, thanks to internet-based mobility and information services that you can access directly from your cockpit. BMW Online is your helpful co-pilot, providing you with the information you need when you are on the road.

The secret behind the convenience and intuitive effectiveness of BMW Online is its ability to offer location-based services. Using GPS technology and the SIM card integrated in the car telephone, BMW Online recognises your vehicle's current location and can provide you with relevant information along your route.
Even before you start your journey, you know what sort of weather awaits you at your destination. Finding a nearby parking space becomes simple. News items and stock market updates are instantly available. Should you need a doctor, BMW Online provides you with the telephone numbers and addresses of open doctor's practices in the vicinity.

In the case of an accident, help is now on hand quicker than ever before. As soon as the crash sensors on the vehicle are activated, you are automatically connected to the BMW Call Centre. The position of your vehicle as well as the data collected by the crash sensors (e.g. airbag activation or passenger occupancy) is evaluated and passed on. This ensures that the rescue services are fully informed as to the type of accident and are prepared when they arrive at the scene. If you witness an accident without being involved yourself, you can of course activate the emergency call manually.

Diverts Attention In the Right Direction

One second and 28 metres. This is the time required to take your eyes off the road and read 100 km/h on the speedometer. The full-colour BMW Head-Up Display projects the current speed or navigation instructions directly into your field of vision while your eyes stay on the road.

The clear, distinct colours make it easy for you to recognise important information, such as the pedestrian warning from BMW Night Vision or the instructions from Lane Change Warning. If required, the currently applicable speed limit and route directions from the navigation system can also be displayed. Particularly helpful at complicated motorway exits or confusing junctions is the clear display showing the correct lane to take.

Safety Through The Night. With Infrared.

BMW Night Vision cuts through the dark to bring you the ultimate in driving safety: a system that shows you what is otherwise hidden.

Wherever your journey takes you, you should always have an eye on everything. At all times – and this means when you are behind the wheel of your BMW at night, too. A person walking on the side of a dark country lane or an animal on the road ahead: BMW Night Vision displays the image recorded by a thermal camera and warns you directly of the risk of collision with persons or with an additional symbol in the optional Head-Up Display. This means you are warned of possible risks much earlier and can react to them much more quickly. Even if you are momentarily dazzled by oncoming traffic.

Collision Warning With Brake Activation

Reaching Destinations At The Safest Distance

BMW ConnectedDrive offers effective assistance at all times. When Collision Warning is activated and a vehicle ahead of you suddenly brakes, your BMW reacts immediately. In stage 1, it sends you an optical warning; in stage 2 – if you haven’t reacted – an acoustic signal calls your attention to the situation. And if you still haven’t reacted and braked, your BMW will do it for you: with a delay of up to 3 m/s 2, the system initiates a braking procedure.
BMW ConnectedDrive only takes control of your driving at the decisive moment – when accident prevention is the issue. What a wonderful feeling when you can really rely on something.

Side View

Drive with foresight around the corner

See what’s coming in advance: with Side View, your BMW always has its eyes open for cross traffic at blind crossings or exit roads, even when your view of the situation is obscured. A glance at the Control Display is enough – it shows you a video display of what the cameras built in to the right and left of your front bumper of your BMW can see. With the help of guidance lines, Side View also shows you the precise position of the front end of your vehicle. The simultaneous view of both traffic directions on the Control Display lets you assess the situation immediately. Even when you’re in motion, if need be, because Side View can also be activated at speeds of up to 15 km/h. Just the press of a button puts you in the picture: with BMW ConnectedDrive. Depending on your model, Side View is either a stand-alone optional accessory or a component of the Surround View feature package.
