BMW Connected Drive: A unique connection between driver, vehicle and the outside world


Vision is all about thinking of the future-and it’s a mindset that can deliver every exciting ideas. One such idea is the BMW Vision ConectedDrive concept vehicle. With this prototype, BMW engineers and designers have developed and information-based connection between driver, vehicle and the outside world. It sets new standards for the car as an integrated component of our networked life.

 BMW Vision ConnectedDrive is a visionary roadster whose deign amazes at first sight. Its dynamic, flowing lines draw the eye from the distinctive front end, over the long bonnet and then to an divides the interior into three levels, also known as layers, that each symbolize a theme of BMW ConnectedDrive- convenience, infotainment and safety. Accompanying functions, as well as controls, are highlighted with different colored lights, through which the illuminated information pulsates.
The concept vehicle also has three ultra-modern screens: a head-up display for the driver, a programmable combination instrument and the passenger information display, which can be operated by the front seat passenger via a conductive fabric layer. Through internet access and augmented reality, the monitors offer numerous possibilities for interaction with the outside world. An example: the front seat passenger receives tips on current local events on-screen and en route. With one hand movement, details can be forwarded to the driver, tickets can be bought and navigation to the venue can be activated directly. You can then drive to your next destination-and into the future.

BMW ConnectedDrive Roadster is light years ahead. The BMW Vision ConnectedDrive Roadster concept is so clever, you might never need to use your brain again. It certainly is a unique connection between driver, vehicle and the outside world.
